Rivers of Goa
Rivers
Below you will find the rivers and backwaters -- listed from the north to the south of Goa -- that flow into the
Arabian Sea. The larger rivers like the Mandovi and Zuari originate in the
Western Ghats.

Tiracol river: Originating in Maharashtra, the Tiracol is the natural boundary between the Indian state of Maharastra to the north (right bank) and Goa's
Pernem Taluka to the south (left bank).

Charpora river: The Charpora has the Goa
Pernem Taluka at his right, north bank and Goa
Bardez Taluka with the popular the popular beaches of
Vagator, Anjuna,
Baga,
Calangute,
Candolim and Sinquerim at its left, south bank.

Baga river is small river just north of Baga beach and Baga village in
Bardez taluka.

Nerul river and backwater makes Fort Aguada a virtual island.

Mandovi river: The Mandovi is one of the main rivers of Goa (with the Zuari) and originates in Karnataka . The Mandovi has many tributaries - for example the Mapusa river. The Mandovi has
Tiswadi taluka and
Ponda Taluka at its south, left bank. Bardez Taluka and
Bicholim Taluka are at its north, right bank. The capital city of
Panjim and the historical site
Old Goa are beautifully situated at the south bank.

Zuari river: Together with the Mandovi, the Zuari is Goa's main river. To the north are Tiswadi Taluka and Ponda Taluka, to its south are Marmugao Taluka and
Salcete Taluka. Goa's main sea port, Marmugao near Vasco da Gama city is situated at the south side of Zuari's estuary.

Sal River:The small but beautiful Sal river flows in the south of Salcete taluka. A ferry connects Cavelossim and Assolna.

Talpona River: The Talpona flows in
Canacona Taluka and is the northern natural boundary of the unspoiled stretch of beach between the
Talpona and
Galgibag villages

Galgibag River:The Galgibag river flows in
Canacona Taluka and is the southern natural boundary of the unspoiled stretch of beach between the
Talpona and
Galgibag villages.

Kalinadi river
strictly speaking does not belong to Goa, but flows in Karnataka. This beautiful river has its estuary just north of Karwar.
